Culture Hackathon 2025

From 27. to 29. January 2025 we invite you to become part of our culture hackathon, which combines creativity, technology, and sustainability. Develop innovative solutions for galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs) and provide new impetus for the cultural landscape.

What is the Culture Hackathon?

The Culture Hackathon 2025 brings together creative minds from various disciplines to develop innovative solutions for integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the work of museums, galleries, libraries, and archives (GLAMs). This year, the event is being held in collaboration with OpenGLAM and the GreenGLAM project and will place a special focus on the use of (meta and para) data from cultural heritage collections to raise awareness of sustainability issues.

Participation and registration

Participation in the 2025 Culture Hackathon is open to everyone, regardless of prior knowledge. However, it is important to participate in all working days (January 28 and 29) in order to promote teamwork and exchange.

Participation is free of charge. However, if registered participants do not show up or cancel less than one week before the event, a fee of 90 Euro will be charged to cover organizational and catering costs.

The Culture Hackathon is aimed at:

  • GLAM expertswho want to make their collections usable in the long term
  • Developers and designerswho introduce creative technologies
  • Students and interested partieswho want to be part of an innovative and collaborative process

Key Challenges:

  • How can cultural heritage data contribute to achieving the SDGs?
  • How can digital solutions promote cultural participation?
  • What innovative ways are there to integrate sustainability into GLAMs?
