The launch of the GreenGLAM project marks the beginning of a new chapter for Austrian galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs). The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in cultural institutions while using innovative approaches to inform visitors about topics such as the energy transition, circular economy, and sustainable mobility. The focus is not only on greater sustainability, but also on how culture and art can contribute to solving global challenges.

The consortium partners: A strong network

Behind GreenGLAM is a network of experts dedicated to connecting culture and technology. Together, we are working to lead GLAMs into a digital and sustainable future. An overview of our consortium partners:

MODUL Technology offers technological solutions, particularly in the field of data integration and processing of large amounts of data. For GreenGLAM, they provide the technological basis for the collection and analysis of GLAM data in the context of the SDGs.

webLyzard technology specializes in media and data analysis and offers innovative platforms for analyzing and visualizing online content. They monitor public discourse on sustainability issues and integrate these findings into the GreenGLAM data sculptures. This is intended to help GLAMs optimize their sustainability messages.

VRVis is a leading research center for visual data analysis specializing in augmented reality (AR) and 3D visualizations. As part of GreenGLAM, they are developing virtual data sculptures that enable visitors to interactively discover GLAM content.

The Institute of Fine Arts and Media Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna combines art and technology. In this project, they contribute their artistic expertise to ensure that the digital tools developed are used creatively and that cultural content is visualized in an appealing way.

OpenGLAM.at advocates for open cultural data and promotes public access to cultural and knowledge resources. Within GreenGLAM, OpenGLAM.at ensures that the content generated is made available to the public.

The Data Intelligence Offensive (DIO) is an association for the promotion of data management in Austria. In the GreenGLAM project, DIO is responsible for communication and dissemination to ensure that the project results reach the target groups and are used effectively.

AI meets culture

The key to GreenGLAM lies in combining culture and artificial intelligence (AI). The goal is to create innovative approaches to the use of AI that are understandable and applicable to everyone. With digital tools such as webLyzard's web-based dashboard and virtual data sculptures, GLAMs can engage their visitors in their exhibitions in a whole new way while raising awareness of sustainability.

GreenGLAM demonstrates how GLAMs can promote sustainable development through the use of modern technologies—not only as places of knowledge, but also as agents of change.
